PIKKU SAARI, the first textile collection for Kokka by Eri Shimatsuka, means a small island in Finnish. She was inspired by everyday life in Helsinki, which is by the sea with beautiful views of numerous small islands. Breeze of Finland is brought to you in a textile form.

Eri Shimatsuka / Textile Designer

To pursue a career as a textile designer, Eri Shimatsuka moved back to Finland in 2007 where she had spent unforgettable days with its beautiful nature and people through a homestay program at the age of 13. While having majored in textile art and design at University of Art and Design Helsinki (currently known as Aalto University) since 2008, Shimatsuka started working at Art Work Studio of Marimekko as a designer in 2010. Today she is based in Helsinki as a freelance designer with a range of commissions in textiles.
